Berlusconi, currently head of the Group of Seven rich nations, told reporters in London after talks with his British counterpart that he had proposed the idea to U.S. President George Bush and that Washington had backed it. "Some G8 leaders asked me if Bush thought it would be good to hold a G8 meeting. I have spoken to Bush. He said it would happen in the future," Berlusconi said. Berlusconi did not say exactly when or where such a meeting would take place. [N.B.] Berlusconi also confirmed that European Union leaders would meet in Brussels Friday to discuss a response to the devastating kamikaze attacks that killed around 5,000 people in New York and Washington Tuesday.
