As a part of Celebrating Assam in collaboration with Assamese community, Rini
NRI Co-ordinator for UK, the Nehru Centre (the cultural wing of Indian High
Commission) on June 11 invited Lord Dholakia Lady Ann, Dr. Christopher Young,
Head of World Heritage and International Policy,
I am deeply grieved to hear of the passing away of my old friend Suren Medhi.
He was born the same year as I and we were contemporaries in Cotton College.
Though he was in the science stream and I was a humanities student, a couple
of mutual friends linked us together.
I still remember the
Friends of Assam and Seven Sisters deeply mourn the death of popular Assamese
writer Saurav Kumar Chaliha. It was in the sixtees when his first short story
'Oxanto Ilektron' started quite a revolution in modern Assamese short story
writing. Since then many of us were hooked to each and every
