Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Teok planned

 TEOK, Dec 18 – Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) has planned to set up a Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at Kaliapani under Teok revenue circle.

A high level team of the site selection committee of the ICAR visited the proposed site at Kaliapani recently and expressed satisfaction over it. For this purpose, ninety-bigha land under Lahing mouza has been allotted near the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry office, Kalipani.

Sources in the Directorate of Extension Education, AAU, the controlling body of the KVKs in Assam informed that an initial amount of Rs 20 lakh has been estimated for the centre at Kaliapani, the construction to be started from January-Feburary next year. Further it is informed that there will be eighteen employees in the centre of which seven scientists, three technical assistants four-office assistants, two drivers and two fourth grade employee. The centre will directly help the farmers of the area, the educated unemployed youths and various self help groups associated with farming.

It may be mentioned here that ICAR has already set up 14 Krishi Vigyan Kendras in Assam and propose to set another three at Kaliapani in Jorhat, Lahowal in Dibrugarh and Dudhnoi in Goalpara districts.
