I¹ve gotten PlayTones to work, however it stops playing the tones as soon as
the call is answered. I would like to use PlayTones during the call because
I want to have a tone/beep played in the background while call recording is

Anyone know a way to get PlayTones to work while call is
Henry,
Both Montior and MixMonitor have a 'B' option that plays a periodic tone.
B([interval]): Play a periodic beep while this call is being recorded.

I've researched my brains out on this, and can't find any answer. Is there
a way to adjust the level of the tones generated through the Playtones
command? I'm thinking that I may have been approaching this incorrectly by
targeting indications.conf since the tones are being called via the

The only thing I can think of is to use the VOLUME dialplan function

I have auto attendant menu. When calling person dials one number one extension
rings. Problem is that while extension rings caller doesn't hear ringing. I
understand that caller doesn't hear ringing because phone call is already

Hi everyone,
I'm in the very early stages of rolling out an asterisk box at work, and one
of the things I'm setting up is a trap for telemarketers ;)
What I want to do is have a sipgate number in the UK here which rings for 10
seconds without calling a hard or softphone, then goes to a
We have a script which lets the phone ring 3 times and then answers it
to listen for a fax tone. While listening for the fax tone it plays a
ring with the simple:
exten = s,4,Playtones(ring)
The problem is, the ring is about 10 times louder than the previous 3
rings. Is there a way to control
On Asterisk 1.0.5, is there any reason why Playtones() would segfault some of the time? It brings down all of Asterisk, just a simple:
Playtones(busy)
Thank you,

Hi
I'm having problems with Playtones. Playtones doesn't play
anything before I play something else.
When I enter this extension none of the Playtones are heard but
if I add a SayNumber(123) the last Playtones can be heard.

Hi:
I have an Asterisk server (version 0.9.0) working with a Digium
E100P card that makes an EuroISDN connection with a Siemens Hicom 300 PBX.
Hicom 300 is pri_net and Asterisk is pri_cpe.
Furthermore, makes an OH323 connection with a GNU gatekeeper

Hi everybody,
Is it possible to use Playtones without Answer a call ?
It's for a callback application. I want to play a tone to inform the
user if Asterisk callback his number and an other if his calerid is
refused.
It works with iax2 and not with Euro-Isdn (E100P)
1) I'm working on a quick replacement for DISA, and I ran into the
following snag: When I specify Playtones(dial) I can only get
around 7 seconds of wait time before the dialtone stops, and the
context goes to the h extension. Is there a way around this fixed
timeout? The DigitTimeout
