I know people in the asterisk community keep thinking asterisk is a
phone system but it's not - it's a voice server with just as many
opportunities outside of the regular phone 'network' as there are
inside.

 

Yes some people like Jay Phillips with the Adhearsion Ruby platform and
Thomas Howe with his multitude of API mashups have proven that voice is
just one of many channels, time for the rest of you to stop thinking it
ends with the phone on your desk.
