AstLinux carries more benefits than just small footprint, so there is
no reason why somebody couldn't install it on HDD, or even a large CF
card (I've seen them up to 8GB). Even if storage space is a problem,
there are ways to manage it (statistics can be kept to a minimum, faxes
can be deleted

I would have though IAXmodem would be the one that's likely to chew more

generate the return tones. However, for an embedded system HylaFax is

David,
I used rxfax for some time and it definitely does not work reliably.
Iaxmodem + HylaFax, on the other hand, provide industrial grade
reliability. So far, it worked 100% of the time for me.
That being said, it would be great to have everything in one box.

I believe what Darrick was trying to say was that IAXmodem and Hylafax
is more reliable than app_rxfax, not that it wouldn't work.
As for whether the applications are installed, have you tried show

You'd be better off using iaxmodem on another machine tied in with
hylafax. Much more robust than rxfax.
I have successfully sent and received faxes over IP through a TDM400p
card to my Brother fax machine.

I see that libtiff and spandsp packages are included in astlinux. Are the
RxFax/TxFax functions and nv_background_detect functions also included?

I'm bold enough to try and see if I can receive a fax over a VoIP line with
