[AUCTeX] quotes are not converted according to babel-language but always into German quotes

Hello and good morning, why does auctex convert the quotes-input always to German-quotes, i.e. ` and ' ? I have (setq TeX-parse-self t) in my .emacs and I don't understand why it doesn't work. I'd be grateful for any help. Regards, Florian Florian Ahrweiler flo@posteo.de
