Hi Greg, There's nothing in undo-tree that I'm aware of that would be affected by which major-mode you're in. I use AUCTeX+undo-tree myself daily, without any issues. This is most likely some issue with your local configuration. But without a proper bug report, including step-by-step

AUCTeX and undo-tree

I use the undo-tree package from GNU Elpa. Recently, the undo command (undo-tree-undo) stopped working when I edit .tex files with AUCTeX (in LaTeX-mode). As far as I can tell, it works as expected in all other modes. Emacs seems to hang and I have to hit C-g repeatedly to be able to edit again.
