AUCTeX and TRAMP

Hello, I was wondering if there is any chance of adding TRAMP support to AUCTeX. AFAIK, this is currently not supported. It might be relatively straightforward to implement for simple usecases (compile a single-file remote document in a remote host)? Thanks and best wishes.
