Does this mean that winpilot will work on iphones as well? Like many I fly

Biggest problem being if these devices detect that it is too hot a
warning screen appears with IPAD needs to cool down before you can use
it.

Hi all,
My iPAQ 5550 (run off an external 5 volt supply) copes with the heat OK but
certainly doesn't like the cold. Anything below below -15C produces a warning
message related to charging a hot/cold battery before switching itself off. I
now heat and insulate the iPAQ when flying in
Save your money. I wish I had.
There is no way to import waypoints: everything has to be entered manually,
thus prone to error.
The list of gliders is very old, with no ability to add new ones.

XCSoar is now running Alpha on Android platforms. It should be released stable
within the new few months. A little late for stable version this summer, but
definitely coming soon. XCSoar 6.1 has lots of improvements on usability,
stability and speed.
Why is that important? Because the
The best option for glider instrumentation is a properly made gliding
instrument. All else is a distraction at best and dangerous at worst.
If you think a driver with an iPhone glued to his ear is dangerous, try the
guy on the other side of the thermal. Yes, I have seen it done.

Oudies are good, and only let down by a poor mount: easily solved.

Yes and no. What about a map. I know when I need to use a map, I need to spend
many more seconds looking at it to find where I am than the tiny time I

At least a map doesn't need batteries and can operate across a wide
temperature range!
Thermalling is not the time to be looking at a map anyway.

It is illegal to drive while reading a map, why is it ok to do it while flying ?
The average person would take much longer looking at a map then the 2 - 3
seconds that it takes to read a pda etc.
Cheers.

Forgive my ignorance, but I have never seen an Android device. I do
