Hello,
I've now merged your patch into Bacula 2.1.8, modifying it to use open_bpipe()
rather than popen(). The change was not a lot more than changing popen to
open_bpipe, and the same for the close.
Best regards,

Hi,
We are using Bacula in our organisation. (Single tapedrive/no
autochanger) I am currently changing the tapes myself but want to give
other (non IT) persons also the possibility to do this job.
When they receive an email they should insert a new tape and bacula has
to continue with the job.

Thanks Arno,
that was my thought too, but i want to have a confirmation.
Sometimes you run in the wrong direction and don't see the easy solution.

Just curious how this is calculated. The volume usage always shows 0% average
even with data on the volume. I was just wondering if this was another option I
needed to add to me existing config.
Anyone?

Hi,
Thank you for answering.
So as you say the problem is that Bacula checks only the FileSet resource
and not the contents.
Good to know :D
I solved the problem making more or less what I expected, so my client is
saving md5 of the fileset content and comparing before starting the Backup.
I've had two backups fail like this. Both happened to be using the short-lived
2.0.4 (30Apr07) version of the windows fd.
It doesn't fail every time.
I haven't seen it with the later 2.0.4 windows fd (yet).

Hi,
If I remember correctly you should use lower case letters for units.
In your conf you used a Upper case, wile Arno (in his example) used a
lower case.
Also it should be possible to restore to the original place (say
z:/myfile.txt) if you modify to / the Where field.

Hi all,
this is what I'd like to do: backup up regularly on volumes of type file that
should not exceed 4GB of size (this is in the case I've to burn such files).
I thought that Maximum Volume Size could help me, but it does not:

Hi Juan and others,
Thanks for your quick answer.
The only reason that may be applicable in this case is the number of
files, I think. The tapes and the drive are ok.
The backup that we have done on the tape was not complete because of
permissions. Some files were not written to the tape and

Hi Rubén,
No. You are talking about files of the client. I am talking about (internal)
files of bacula in the tape. The permissions problem is not surely your
problem. Only when you read explicitly Marking Volume YOURVOLUMENAME in
Error in Catalog then, a little before, you will see the cause

So far, so good. But since you're backing up to plain old files, you
cannot create a new file on the disk without creating a new volume. In

Try using the btape in the trunk of the SVN. It has a number of little fixes
