Hi everybody !
I am working with Bacula since 2005/04 in order to backup all important
production data. Now Bacula is running in production environnement since June
and seems to work fine.
The only problem I have is sometimes a segmentation violation and very poor
transfer bitrates (because of
Spooling is when you copy data from the client(s) to a scratch disk area
on your Bacula server, then copy from there to your storage device.
It's primary purposes are:
(1) to allow client backups to finish quickly if the backup rate is
limited by a relatively slow tape or other slow storage
shall I do ?
I have 1 more question :
What is Arno calling spooling ??
Many thanks for your helps !!

with differentials, you always only
need the last full and the desired differential backup, while with
incrementals up to 10 volumes could be necessary.
I don't understand the difference of bacula management between incr and diff.

I hesitate between incremental and differential for my backup jobs.
I don't want to keep several months of data history.
I only want to go back to a D - 3 weeks state if necessary.
So my backup planning is :
- 1 full backup every week, 3 weeks of file retention
- 1 diff or incr backup every day,

The goal is to make configuration more readable

Hi !
Still qualifying Bacula for my company, there is something I don't understand
about Bacula Philosophy :
What is the utility of creating a restore job ? I only have on my Bacula-
dir.conf the default restore job but I can restore all files in all backup
jobs.
Can somebody explain me ?
Configuration. The ablility and flexibility to modify whatever you
want when you want.
One sample restore job can be reconfigured at run time to restore any
job to any client. You could create a large number of restore jobs
to suit every condition. Presumably restores are less often
Hello,
I am still testing Bacula in order to backup about 40 servers and I'd like to
know if it were possible to make a dynamic file set just before running a
backup job (without using Linux Crontab).
I tried to launch the generation of a text file with the ClientRunBeforeJob
