This looks like the same stacktrace reported here:

BTW, I got also a major corruption of the DB. Your DB remains coherent
when this happens?

Dear BaseX Team, dear BaseX users,
Corrupting a collection when adding a document past the 2 147 483 648 nodes

Are there other BaseX users facing the same problem ?
I faced a strange behavior after adding several files (each one sizing around

Hi Wendell,
the CHOP option has been introduced at a verly stage of BaseX, and I’m
not sure if we had added it today. We could add one or more additional
options to normalize whitespaces or removing PIs/comments from the
input, but the wish list, and the exception list, would probably
continue to
Dear Markus,
please note that maps are not part of the official recommendation yet
[1]. They have been proposed by Michael Kay (the author of Saxon) some
time ago, and a variant of it will probably be included in XQuery 3.1.
However, we could think about adding BaseX-specific parsing rules to
Hi Arto,
thanks for your report. Could you provide us with a self-contained
example that allows us to reproduce the problem?

Hi Amanda,
thanks for your mail. We have thought about adding new visualizations
to BaseX now and then. As our focus has more and more been shifted to
database-centric features, I’m afraid that the introduction of new
visualization will need to have lower priority, unless we find some

Hi Scott,
different to tell what may be going on here. Maybe it's because the
data needs to be transfered to your client over the network? Have you
tried queries that don't return any results, or have you wrapped your
queries with the count() function to reduce the result size?
Best,
Christian
Christian,
Thanks a lot for your reply. I'll experiment with filtering. I think the
Options Realtime Filtering setting may be the piece I was missing. With that
setting enabled, I can use the folder visualization to get the tree view and
the text visualization to see the markup plus text
Christian,
Indeed, I concur that the wish list would grow; a generalized approach
is what we need. I'll let you think about that. :-)
In the meantime, as you suggest, if I'm willing to cache the data
first, I have many options. Certainly it's possible in my testing
framework but as we build out,
(I'm pretty new to XQuery update. I suppose I could always just try it. :-)
Feel free… ;) This should work:
for $x in //*[empty(../*)]
return replace value of node $x
with normalize-space($x)

Yes, that's a big improvement, thank you! :-)

Dear BaseX Team,
It seems to be a problem with the OPTIMIZE ALL command.
When applied on a DBNAME collection, it ends up with the following message :
DBNAME_224548755 could not be renamed
I suppose a new optimized collection is being created aside the current one,
and cannot be renamed as
Dear BaseX users,
BACKUPing a big database (leading to a bigger than 2 Go archive) is ok,
But RESTOREing it fails because archive is corrupted.
It seems to be related to the 32 bit zip library limitation, that may be solved
with java 7.
Did someone already try BACKUP/RESTORing big databases
