Reviews

Fred
SJ Museum of Art has an interesting display of Tommy Smith inspired artwork.
Highly recommend (second level). There’s also, in the old section, San Jose and
 SJSU Athletics displays.

Diane
Thursday was Planetary Robotics event. Speakers were great. Fantastically
interesting people.

John
Weathering With You (movie) by Makoto Shinkai. Light romcom mixed with magical
realism. Young boy falls in love with a girl who can control the weather.
Visually gorgeous. Not a deep story. Highly recommend.
The Black Ships (book) by A G Claymore. Billed as an alien invasion novel.
Roughly near future. Aliens invade a Mars colony. Military SF thriller, not
deep but engaging. “Free or Cheap” on Kindle. Now onto second in the series.
Lost in Space (netflix) S1 & 2. Enjoying the first season, but the second one
really takes off. Characters are all developed, and you can now ride the
freight train. Binged season 2 in three nights. Highly recommend it.

Stephen
Chasing the Moon by A. Lee Martinez. Very fun story about a young woman who
moves to LA, but her closet is occupied by a demon.
Went to MST3K Live on Thursday. Joel’s final tour. MST3K is 10 times more fun
live!
John: Sketchfest had a follow-on panel about their appearance at sketchfest.

Andrew
Cant say anything about Doctor Who without spoiling it. 2 episodes in a row
really enjoyed (Tesla & Judoon)
Aniara. Swedish Sci-Fi film. Passenger ship from Earth to Mars thrown off
course. Linear but not classic three act structure. Based on a ‘50s epic poem.
Addams Family (animated feature) If you like the Addams Family through all it’s
incarnations, it’s for you. Captures the style of Charles Addams’ cartoons.
Wackiness of the TV series. References to the best parts of the films.
Kevin: Thought it would be just a time filler, but proved to be a different
film than the beginning made it out to be.
Never Surrender. Galaxy Quest documentary. Charming. A must for Galaxy Quest
fans.
Lisa: Saw the theatrical showing. Absolutely adored it.
Muppet Guys Talking. Five Muppet performers talking.
Color Out Of Space. Adaptation of Lovecraft. Really good adaptation. Deranged
and twisted with Nicholas Cage at his Nicholas Caginess.
Thunderbirds Are Go! Latest 3 episodes.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Latest season so far solid.

Ken & Jerry
A Dolls House Part 2. Ibsen’s characters, but not Ibsen. Little lighter than
the original, but you don’t need to know the original (might be preferable!)
Playing through Sunday.

DaveG
Saturday went to Skecthfest in San Franciso to see Rob Paulson & Maurice
Lamarch (Pinky & The Brain) in a 2-hour interview. Pinky & The Brain may be
coming back (narf!)

Auction

Meeting was adjourned at 21:00 and the rumor was: David Clark is fondle worthy.
