Entertain suggestions of other parties.

Reconvening/Relocation
Doesn’t look like Black Bear will be able to accommodate our late stays. New
management appears to hold to the 9 p.m. closing time. The committee is going
to shift its focus to relocation. Currently communicating with Holder’s Country
Inn in Cupertino (seeing of the late stay is an issue). We have the fall-back
of Denny’s, which is a 24-hour operation. The Milpitas one would be an easy
transition for us, and we’ve met there a couple times – as a last minute
change. The Campbell and Willow Glen Denny’s also have meeting spaces. If you
know of other restaurants that have a meeting space, that can take us past 9
p.m. and doesn’t charge extra for the space, email ba...@p4tt.com
<mailto:ba...@p4tt.com>.

Sports:
San Jose Giants Harry Potter Night, Saturday, July 31 (game starts at 6 p.m.)

This year we are on the Party Patio, along the first base line. Restrictions
have been lifted, which means we have up to 50 people. Cost is $70 per ticket.

Food will be a served buffet with a choice of three items (from Burgers, Hot
Dogs, Chicken Sandwiches, Tri-Tip or Pulled Pork) each attendee will need to
vote for which three would be their preference, and the top three will be
selected (if we need one or two veggie orders, we can probably do that on top
of the three, otherwise we can make one selection the veggie). Sides include
Potato Salad and Fruit Cups, plus unlimited soda and water. Each ticket-holder
will also get two drinks tickets, good for beer or wine.

First time in a year and a half LV had rain! There was even a puddle – with
adults playing in it! 1/100” of rain according to NOAA. Usually it’s monsoon
season…

Reviews

Yochanan:
Apocalypto (2006), Mel Gibson. Historical adventure film. Interesting, action
packed, in Mayan not English. A bit bloody. Glad he saw it.
Rick & Morty (saw first 2 episodes) very fannish and a little profane. Laughed,
and will continue to watch. Seems modeled on Doc & Marty. Not for kids.

Howierd:
Discovered he could record Batwoman, and watched this afternoon (so you don’t
have to). Episode was apparently the season ender. Derivative. Bunch of
jokerish characters, twin Batwomen fighting each other. Fake Kung Fu fights,
the are they dead in the river trope. Won’t bother invest in the whole season.
Not worth the antenna.

Duncan
Katla: Icelandic series. Not a big FX, relies on the Icelandic scenery. Starts
as a slow family drama, moves onto ancestors showing up with a volcano erupting
in the backdrop. Netflix. Recommend.

Kennita
Loki: Enjoying a lot. Charismatic. Plot points have been interesting. Currently
weekly on Disney+

Craig:
Star Trek: Lower Decks (DVD from library) Not a big fan of adult oriented
animation, but really enjoyed it. Liked all the in-jokes.

Atheus:
Tried teardrop camping at Bridgeport at Mono Lake. $120/night for stocked
camper from Sierra TTeardrops This had a bed and a kitchen and was towable by
his car (you can get bigger ones that are en suite). Recommends
sierrateardrops.com <http://sierrateardrops.com/>

Rumor of the Week:
May all BASFA meetings be delivered on a Silver Trey.
