Reviews
Yochanan:
The Peripheral (Amazon) based on book. Been out for a few months. Very
interesting. Set in two time frames (a near to us, and several hundred years in
future). Highly recommend. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Peripheral_(TV_series)
Rick: Great puzzle-plot, and a wicked sense of humor.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (in theatres) Great popcorn movie.(not a
great movie). Liked but didn’t love. Worth matinee.
(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ant-Man_and_the_Wasp:_Quantumania)
Doc: Only in Theaters (3Below) about the Laemmle Theaters in LA. The history of
the family is the story of movies in the US. Followed by a Q&A – lamelle and
Director is also a character actor (Rafael LaBarge) Probably wont be streaming
any time soon… (onlyintheaters.com)
Duncan:
The Volume (technology) meta-level views. ILM’s digital stage-craft
(https://www.ilm.com/stagecraft/)
Yochanan: Making of The Mandalorian (Disney+) talks in great detail. 360º view
in real time, not keyed in later.
Gerald:
Blue Origin has been able to make solar cells out of lunar regolith simulant,
which means solar can be made on the moon and not have to be taken there.
Back when he and Gayle went to Antarctica, he didn’t bring a scarf. The got
some wool in the Falklands, and Gayle knitted one for him by the time they got
to Antarctica.
John:
Trip back from LA. Left 1 p.m. on Friday, got turned away from the grapevine
(not unexpected) and, after seven hours of driving in pouring rain, stopped in
Bakersfield for the night. Eventually got home late Saturday night.
Gayle & Rick had some comments…
Went to GallifreyOne (gallifreyone.com). Took it low-key. Made it out of the
charity auction without spending any money. Jodie was a great speaker. Classic
Who folks were a lot of fun.
Lisa: Drive was less eventful than John and Chris’. Enjoyed the convention
immensely.
Yochanan: Didn’t go, but won a signed Jodie picture at the Legion of Rassilon
raffle.
Also went to Disneyland, spending half the time getting wet! Managed to get a
pic with Black Panther!
Rick:
Picard (S3 E2) It’s all fan-service (except Amanda Plummer)
Yochanan is loving this season.
Rumor of the Week:
BASFA will move future meetings to The Volume.
Adjourned at: 21:09
