I compiled and installed emacs 23.0.60.1 under debian etch. I found
that this disabled my bbdb, and so I compiled and installed
bbdb 2.36, but it still doesn't work. In either case:

  M-x bbdb-name RET
  [no match]

~/elisp/bbdb/ is still in emacs path. I'm not quite sure what the "no
match" error implies.

A normal installation entails copying the ".info and .info-*" files
from the texinfo/ directory into a directory in the Info search
path. However, the only file there was bbbdb.texinfo. How do I find
out what the current Info search path is? Info files are generally .gz
files.

I've no idea how to troubleshoot bbdb.
