OT: Update - Canberra Wildfire
8.30pm Sunday A semblance of normality. Garbage (wheelie) bins out the front of houses all down the street for the regular collection tomorrow, if it happens. Temp outside about 22, very welcome cool wind from the east/southeast, the smoke blanket has cleared which protected us from the high temps forecast for today so well that the dreaded west/northwesterlys did not develop, and we even managed to make it up to a restaurant (not far away) for dinner. But the water-bombing choppers are still flying overhead every 30 minutes or so to refill at the lake not far away and go on back to dump their loads on smoking smouldering fire-ravaged areas. The firebreak making continues, now with teams of five bulldozers running side-by-side converting enormous swathes of grass and bushland into bare dirt. For tomorrow high temps are forecast again (but not as high as first feared, 35 instead of 39) and winds. Four confirmed dead now, no details of the last one. Temporary power restored to some of the shattered and other suburbs. Traffic lights still out of action in most areas of the south side of the city. Residents allowed to return to Holt and Duffy and Chapman for short periods under a checkpoint/registration system. Unfortunately a lot of unfair criticism surfacing now about the apparent unpreparedness of the emergency and fire services. Except they weren't - what they were was out on the far flung flanks trying to keep the fires contained in the Namadgi National Park, and scattered across rural areas to protect property. When the fires broke through, they roared across those open areas of grassland driven by superheated winds gusting to over 70 kms an hour, flames rising to over one hundred metres. No one could get back in time to prevent them reaching the suburbs at such speeds and with such power that trees literally exploded into fireballs igniting everything around, dry or not, houses, sheds, garages, cars, power poles, even green lawns. Indeed no way the flames could have been stopped at all. In fact the people in the emergency services have done - are still doing - a magnificent job. Many have lost houses and property but they are still out there to try and prevent a recurrence tomorrow or later. God bless them - and you for all your thoughts and support roger

Deborah Byron wrote: Dear Roger--My thoughts and prayers are with you and all there who have suffered such shocking losses (the poor terrified wild animals as well). What do the devas have to tell us in times like these? Was there no warning? The speed of advance cancelled out all warnings, sentient and spiritual. Not even devas can predict everything. But - at 3pm yesterday afternoon my wife Robin was on our tile roof cleaning out the gutters (which I couldn't do because I can't handle heights any more) and blocking the downpipes with rags so we could fill the gutters with water. The wind was at gusty gale force and I was up a ladder panic-stricken, my heart in my mouth, thinking of the danger she was in. Then the devas came in to me and quietened me down - we have four here - and between us we fashioned a globe of protective energy around her. Which worked. I have a lot of time for the devas, have had ever since I first met them in this life about a year ago at Dalgety, even though (or probably because) they have an immense advantage over me. They've been around a long, long time. We would all do well to listen to them more, and more carefully. Thanks, roger
Dr. Doug Rokke
I received a tape of Dr. Doug Rokke speaking about his experiences in the Gulf War. It is unspeakably shocking. I put his name and depleted uranium munitions into Goggle and got a lot of confirming documents. He says there are 1-2,000 of such munitions ready to be deployed in the 2003 Iraq War which will make Iraq lethally radioactive for eternity. He said that 10,000 U.S. troops were dead and 221,000 on permanent disability--from radiation, from the Gulf War in 1990-1, not to mention non-combatants, and that the government would not acknowledge any of this or give the 24 hr medical attention that is required in cases like this to our own troops. They used solid U-238 3/4x18 tank shells that exploded into spalling, the equivalent of burning BBs--that also contained nuclear waste, Plutonium, Neptunium, from Padukah, KY, Oak Ridge, TN and Portsmuth OH. Also in cruise missles, land mines, 3/4 lb bombs dropped by Warthogs. Read document Los Alamos memorandum which was also on the net.
FW: [globalnews] The Golden Verses of Pythagoras
Title: FW: [globalnews] The Golden Verses of Pythagoras HIEROS LOGOS In the first place revere the Immortal Gods as they are established and ordained by the Law. Reverence the Oath. In the next place revere the Heroes who are full of goodness and light. Honour likewise the Terrestrial Daimons by rendering them the worship lawfully due to them. Honour likewise thy father and thy mother, and thy nearest relations. Of all the rest of mankind, make him thy friend who distinguishes himself by his virtue. Always give ear to his mild exhortations, and take example from his virtuous and useful actions. Refrain, as far as you can, from spurning thy friend for a slight fault, for power surrounds necessity. Know that all these things are as I have told thee. Accustom thyself to surmount and vanquish these passions: First, gluttony, sloth, lust and anger. Never commit any shameful actions, neither with others nor in private with thyself. Above all things, respect thyself. In the next place, observe Justice in thy actions and in thy words; and accustom not thyself to behave thyself in anything without rule and without reason. Always make this reflection, that it is ordained by Destiny for all men to die; and that the goods of fortune are uncertain. As they may be acquired, they may likewise be lost. Concerning all the calamities that men suffer by Divine Fortune, support with patience thy lot, be what it will, and never repine at it, but endeavour what thou canst to remedy it, and consider that Fate does not send the greatest portion of these misfortunes to good men. There are amongst men several sorts of reasonings, good and bad. Admire them not too easily and reject them not neither, but if any falsehoods be advanced, give way with mildness and arm thyself with patience. Observe well, on every occasion, what I am going to tell thee: Let no man either by his words, or by his actions, ever seduce thee, nor entice thee to say or to do what is not profitable for thee. Consult and deliberate before thou act, that thou may'st not commit foolish actions, for it is the part of a miserable man to speak and to act without reflection. But do that which will not afflict thee afterwards, nor oblige thee to repentance. Never do anything which thou dost not understand; but learn all thou oughtest to know, and by that means thou wilt lead a very pleasant life. In no wise neglect the health of thy body; but give it food and drink in due measure, and also the exercise of which it has need. By measure, I mean what will not incommode thee. Accustom thyself to a way of living that is neat and decent, without luxury. Avoid all things that will occasion envy, and be not expensive out of season, like one who knows not what is decent and honourable. Be neither covetous nor niggardly. A due measure is excellent in these things! Do only the things that cannot hurt thee, and deliberate before thou doest them. Never suffer sleep to close thy eyelids after thy going to bed, till thou hast thrice reviewed all thy actions of the day: Wherein have I done amiss? What have I done? What have I omitted that I ought to have done? If in this examination thou find that thou hast done amiss, reprimand thyself severely for it; and if thou hast done any good, rejoice. Practise thoroughly all these things; meditate on them well; thou oughtest to love them with all thy heart. It is they that will put thee in the way of Divine Virtue. I swear it by Him who has transmitted into our souls the Sacred Tetraktys, the Source of Nature, whose course is eternal. Never set thy hand to the work, till thou hast first prayed the Gods to accomplish what thou art going to begin. When thou hast made this habit familiar to thee, thou wilt know the constitution of the Immortal Gods and of men; even how far the different Beings extend, and what contains and binds them together. Thou shalt likewise know, in accord with Cosmic Order, that the nature of this Universe is in all things alike, so that thou shalt not hope what thou oughtest not to hope; and nothing in this world shall be hid from thee. Thou wilt likewise know that men draw upon themselves their own misfortunes, voluntarily and of their own free choice. Wretches that they are! They neither see nor understand that their good is near them. There are very few of them who know how to deliver themselves out of their misfortunes. Such is the Fate that blinds mankind and takes away his senses. Like huge cylinders, they roll to and fro, always oppressed by ills without number; for fatal contention, which is innate in them, pursues them everywhere, tosses them up and down, nor do they perceive it. Instead of provoking and stirring it up, they ought by yielding to avert it. Great Jupiter, Father of men, you would deliver them all from the evils that oppress them, if you would show them what is the Daimon of

Title: FW: [globalnews] US Use of Depleted Uranium in Iraq, Kuwait, and elsewhere a horrendous warcrime Merla, heres a copy of his address: - The San Francisco Times When all the news is not fit to print Dr. Doug Rokke's address on Depleted Uranium Vieques Libre - http://www.viequeslibre.org The following is a copy of the Address given by Dr. Doug Rokke, former head of the Pentagon's Depleted Uranium Project, at the National Vietnam and Gulf War Veterans Coalition 17th Annual Leadership Breakfast, at the U.S. Senate Caucus Room on November 10, 2000. Adrian Cronauer was Master of Ceremonies. Distinguished Members of Congress, Coalition Leaders, Fellow Warriors, and Guests-- It is a distinct honor to address you today. During the Gulf War I was the U.S. Army health physicist assigned to 12th Preventive Medicine AM theater command staff and the 3rd U.S. Army Medical Command headquarters. I was recalled to active duty 20 years after serving in Vietnam, from my research job with the University of Illinois Physics Department and sent to the Gulf to ensure that all military and civilian personnel were prepared for the anticipated nuclear, biological, chemical, and environmental exposures. I also was assigned to two equally vital special operations teams: Bauers Raiders and the Depleted Uranium Assessment team. The preparations for war take many forms. Infantry soldiers learn and practice their combat skills, truck drivers practice maneuvering their rigs to make sure they can deliver supplies, and medical personnel prepare to treat the expected combat casualties. Ideally, preparations are driven by intelligence reports. However as the recent bombing of the U.S.S. Cole shows commanders may ignore intelligence information and not protect either their personnel or equipment. Prior to the start of Operation Desert Storm military intelligence reports and threats issued by President Saddam Hussein suggested that nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare and environmental hazards (NBC-E) would be employed to win battles. As we prepared for the battle in the Deserts of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq, medical and combat unit commanders realized that medical personnel must be able to provide emergency medical care to conserve the fighting strength in an NBC-E environment. This required an assessment of medical capabilities. Four deficiencies were identified. First, an assessment of existing emergency medical response capabilities in the staging areas located within Saudi Arabia revealed the need to respond to medical emergencies resulting from combat to disease and non-battle injuries (DNBI). Second, an assessment of medical personnel arriving in Southwest Asia verified that most of them did not have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to provide medical care for the expected nuclear, biological, chemical, and environmental (NBC-E) casualties much less the conventional weapons casualties. Third, the we verified that that most operations personnel needed a NBC-E defense refresher course that was specifically designed for verified threats. Fourth, we needed to design and construct decontamination facilities, prepare standard decontamination procedures, and train personnel to provide immediate personnel and equipment decontamination. Consequently, Bauer's Raiders, the 3d U.S. Army Medical Command theater NBC-E special operations planning and teaching team was formed. Each team member had prior combat experience and was a qualified medical and NBC-E instructor. This team also designed and supervised the construction of the NBC decontamination facilities and provided operations assistance throughout the echelons above corps, corps, and coalition forces. Since 1991 numerous Department of Defense reports have stated that medical and tactical commanders were unaware of the probable NBC-E exposures and never told about the medical and environmental consequences of these exposures. THAT IS A LIE! They were told! They were warned! Immediate and long-term medical care was recommended. The threats, health and environmental consequences, and medical care recommendations were provided in written messages and during courses such as the 3rd U.S. Army Medical Command ARCENT Medical Management of Chemical and Biological Casualties, the NBC-E defense refresher course, the Combat lifesaver course, and the Decontamination procedures course which we taught to over 1200 military personnel in the theater between December 1990 and February 1991. I gave the classified threat briefing specifically identifying the anticipated NBC-E exposures, taught the NBC-E defense refresher course, the combat lifesaver course, and decontamination procedures course. Thus I can confirm that commanders knew what to expect and how to be prepared!!! Another important fact is that although Department of Defense officials have stated over and over that the vital chemical and biological logs were misplaced or lost,
S.A. National Parks Petition - Keep It Wild!
We are at a time that we need to consider our relationship with Earth. We can no longer afford to exploit finite natural resources at the expense of the integrated environment. We will have to drastically limit our impact, maximize recycling and minimize waste. We must protect, manage and restore natural ecosystems to conserve biodiversity and maintain ecological services. Most importantly, we must learn to respect all life, recognizing that all is connected and interdependant and that there are limits to exploitation. www.geasphere.co.za The South African National Parks Petition The South African National Parks (SANParks) have embarked on a commercialization programme that will significantly alter the character of our National Parks and that threatens to irretrievably alter the undeveloped status of large tracts of relatively untouched wilderness. The commercialisation programme includes not only the privatisation of a number of facilities and services but also the construction of an indeterminate number of new lodges and roads and the granting of rights for exclusive use of considerable prime portions of land within our national parks including the Kruger National Park. This will include, inter alia, off-road driving, a considerable increase in night traffic, commercial air traffic in and out of our park(s), and increased private and commercial traffic on the existing road network of the parks. The sale and harvesting of game, birds and other resources in our parks, in order to make money, has not been ruled out as a possibility. The decision to embark on this high impact programme that has no defined end (ie. how much development is acceptable) and scope to indicate what forms of developments and activities are appropriate or desirable, was made: with extremely limited public participation without an in-depth investigation to look for lower impact alternative means of generating income for the SANParks without consideration to the cumulative and off-site impacts of the luxury private concessions (the individual, compartmentalised developments' Environmental Impact Assessments DO NOT address these very important impacts); without a preceding or concurrent investigation and programme having been put in place to ensure SANParks are optimally managed and structured in terms of cost effectiveness (efficiency) and accountability (to minimise unnecessary losses); and without fully complying with all the principles and requirements of applicable legislation that is currently in place to protect the integrity of the environment (eg.Section 22 of the Environmental Conservation Act [Act No. 73 of 1989] and the National Environmental Management Act [Act No. 107 of 1998]). We support the idea that National Parks should be managed in a manner that minimises the need for government subsidies and in a manner that creates jobs and generates a profit, wherever feasible. However, this must not compromise or destroy the essence and uniqueness of what makes many people wish to visit our National Parks (and our country) in the first place. Wilderness areas are irreplaceable and are ever-increasingly becoming more rare and more valuable on a global scale. Development decisions need to be made only after careful and thorough consideration of these facts and of the needs of future generations, to whom we have an obligation to ensure they are left with some options of their own. Already, we have left them with arguably too little undeveloped land. We thus support proposals for some, suitably low impact and truly peripheral developments, where these are deemed appropriate through the application of the Precautionary Principle (err on the side of caution) to ensure that long term / permanent loss is not incurred through decisions motivated by short and medium term needs / profits. We call for an immediate halt to the concession process until such time as: a) A comprehensive Strategic Environmental Assessment has been conducted in which all the cumulative and off-site impacts of the concessions have been identified and addressed; b) A thorough investigation has been conducted to identify and consider all alternatives; c) The scope and extent of the commercialisation programme have been firmly set; d) An environmental management system that will capacitate the SANParks to effectively manage and monitor the programme has been developed and implemented; and e) A proper public participation programme has been conducted! To register your support, click here on our Petition Website: http://www.mylittleblackbook.co.za/Petitions For more information go to : http://www.geasphere.co.za/sawilderness Geasphere Website Also visit the http://www.parks-sa.co.za/ Parks Website Should you wish to support the plea to preserve the integrity of South Africa's National Parks through a moratorium on commercial developments until these 5 requirements have been addressed, please add your name to the petition.

RS, while in Berlin, reached the 33rd Level within the OTO, or Free Mason. I guess that is some association. Chris-I guess he was their type after all. Thanks for that information. One point, though, Freemasonry has 33 levels (actually 32 official, and then the mysterious 33rd); and OTO has 9 levels. OTO seems to have splintered off of Masonry and many of the levels are probaly similar or condensates of a few Masonry degrees. Many people at RS time seem to have been in both lodges. Indigenous Microorganisms + Korean Natural Farming Association
[Previously... Re: [SANET-MG] Beneficial Soil Microbia] The question is how to get information on IM or IMO's, Indigenous Microorganisms. Well, there is a seminar on Indigenous Microorganisms at the Ecological Farming Conference in California, Jan. 22-25. Gil Carandang, a farmer from the Phillipines, will demonstrate some of the special cultures. http://www.eco-farm.org/efc/efc_main.html Concepts and practices on Indigenous Microorganisms, IM or IMO, originate with Han Kyu Cho and the Korean Natural Farming Association, or KNFA, going back 35 to 40 years. Yet, this knowledge has only come into English language in the last few years. There is one book in English, yet it is not available for-sale from any distributor that I can determine. Korean Natural Farming: Indigenous Microorganisms and Vital Power of Crop/Livestock Han Kyu Cho and Atsushi Koyama Korean Natural Farming Association, 1997. 172 p. KNFA farming practices pay special attention to soil management, cover crops, and organic mulches. IMO's are directed at critical stages of the plant growth, to enhance and facilitate physiology and microbiology. Very little on IMO's exists on the web, as well. Here is one article to gain insight: Indigenous Micro-organisms Put to Work The Seed Saver's Network http://www.genevar.com.au/seedsavers/resources/10.html Here is a web document from a Korean company, a .doc download, that points to commercial equipment for the production of fermented biofertilizers with IMO's in the KNFA tradition. It contains useful background information on KNFA, IMO's, microbial processes, and microbial benefits. It contains photos in an educational series that show the production steps and processes. Bio Plant of Indigenous Microorganism Developed by... Natural Farming Institute Manufactured by... H-Tec Co., Ltd http://www.htech-fa.co.kr/english/env/images/infoeng.doc Interestingly, EM in Japan does something very similar. The equipment featured here may be the same. Over 1 million Japanese households collect food scraps in the EM bokashi buckets. Trucks come by every once in a while to pick up the pickled bokashi-treated food waste. The bokashi food-waste material is taken to farms and composted. And, the bokashi food-waste material is taken to these biofertilizer plants which run the material through bioprocessing equipment that integrates (as best I can surmise): bokashi food-waste + rice bran biomass + molasses + EM microbes + heat treatment + fermentation process that results in a ready-to-use, pelletized organic fertilizer for use on commerical on organic farms. Web research on Korean-language websites -- to locate IMO material on the web -- included digging through Korean characters to find English-language resources. That's how I found the following chapter from Korea Organic Farming Association, which offers complimentary notes on organic farming, composting, fermentation, beneficial microorganisms, and special-culture microbial-inoculants. Re: Indigenous Microorganisms + Korean Natural Farming Association
Thanks for this information filled post, Steve. To share with the group, I was introduced to Korean Natural Farming a couple of years back. One of my interns came from a family that was commercially involved with Korean Natural Farming. The intern herself had worked for a season at a cucumber greenhouse in Japan that utilized Korean Natural Farming methods to produce cucumbers that she described as 'free of disease, 40% larger than non-innoculated cucumbers, bringing 50percent more at market, and lines of housewives waiting for the cukes each market day as the large, healthy cucumbers were believed to also have profound health benefits.' She was very clear: Korean Natural Farming was founded in Korea but thrived in Japan. She also described he culture of cucumbers: plants sprayed with a fermentation of GROWING TIPS of cucumbers growing on black plastic in greenhouses. If you peeled back the black plastic, the ground under it and around the cucumber stems was covered about 1/2 inch thick with a mat of white mycellium. Again: no greenhouse diseases and no pest problems around, including cucumber beetles. It was this information and a visit to Bob Cannards indigenous microbe operation that spurred my interest in compost tea (CT). I do not, however, for a minute, think that the bd preps are 'about' microbes. Forget the effects of using the preps, for now. Is anyone satisfied that the transubstantiation of cow manure to purest humus that occurs in a horn is accomplished by microbial action alone? If so, let me know. -Allan
Re: Indigenous Microorganisms + Korean Natural Farming Association
Hey Allan - The language and resources I posted on BD practices as special culture approaches to take advantage of IMO's is accurate and revealing and expansive but certainly not the whole picture; nor should you assume that is what I imply. You can look at my resources in totality and easily see that life force energy and dynamic effects are all there in my attempts to share information on the bio-dymamic approach. BD-Now handles the subtle energy aspects of BD on a regular basis, so there's no fuss. I did promise to post notes and resources on subtle energy aspects of EM + Magnetic Resonance + Hado, weaving a thread back to the universality of Humus Management + Biological Energy Fields resulting from enlivened microbes, yet I'll do that some day in the future. Now I better go focus on workshop notes. Peace, Steve Allan Balliett wrote: I do not, however, for a minute, think that the bd preps are 'about' microbes. Roger, will continue to focus my thoughts of low/no wind and drenching rain over a mental map of the Canberra area since reading your reports of the horific firestorms earlier today.
