A recent post asked about ehrlichia and although I cannot help with ideas
for treatment etc I though the List might be interested to hear that
apparently a case has been diagnosed here in South Africa in a lady who
works her Goldens. She was hospitalised with an unknown diagnosis and little

flare up again later, it may take more than one round of antibiotics to cure as well.
I know here in the states there is a new test kit that tests for both Ehrlichiosis

After reading Kathy, Jessica's and Eileen's posts my question is -- when
do
you worry about a lump? Hugo (8 year-old neutered male) has many lumps
which the vet says are fatty deposits. One that is particularly large is
about the size of

Yes, I caught it. Last 10 minutes of the show was devoted to the Berner
Walk and the interview with Barry Scheiber Moritz. No mention of BARC.
Lots of great shots of Berners and their people at the Berner Walk...what an
event! The Nose to Nose interview went off very niceMartha could not
The Ridgefield Berner Walk was aired Friday morning on Martha Stewart's 9
am show and seemed to cover all aspects of the morning gathering from the
"blessing of the Berners" the actual walk, the owner's home and dog, and
the food and joviality. We were glad we took our mutt Guinness as well as
Oh, well done everyone who contributed so generously to this Raffle. And

Hi, Karen
For the chair nibbling I would suggest Citronella oil if you can get your
hands on it. I've had to spray citronella on all my furniture legs (and
walls...) regularly or Doppo will just chomp away. he hates the smell and
will not chew anything citronelly.
Good luck with the getting hazel

Hmm! New poll suggested here! How many Berner Owners have Cats? I have

rabbits,
ferrets!)
We have four cats in our family - from eldest to youngest - Smokey, who
ignores Mattie; Lucy, who swats at Mattie; Joaquin (a Siamese

What do you do if your puppy (or mischievous older dog) gets into your
holiday decorations and eats some of the glass ornaments?
This potentially lethal mishap can darken even the brightest holiday

About 16 years ago, our three dogs ate a four pack of regular sized light
bulbs (they ate all of the glass and left the metal ends.) The vet told
us to feed them butter and mashed potatoes. Everything came out okay..

I think it's the crunchiness. They imagine they are eating a small bird,
or mammal. Perhaps they think it's an emu or
Yes I caught the segment on Martha this a.m. What a beautiful site, with all
those big, beautiful Berners all in one place. I must say that I was jealous
that I wasnt there to share in the fun and excitement. How fortunate we are
to have been adopted by such a loving and caring breed. I am just

Anybody out there with intact males or even altered ones ever experienced the
following? About 8 months or so ago Sisco had a couple of days of occasional
few drops of bloody discharge from his penis. Took him to the vet who, of
course, couldn't find anything wrong and figured he just might
