I need some opinions on this:
We have an offshore support person who is assisting my group in supporting the
Blackberry devices. He does not yet have a Blackberry. We are trying to
determine if the Blackberry emulator would be sufficient for him vs. him having
a real device.
I prefer the real

Not to say that the emulator isn't useful. I have one for OS6 devices as mine
isn't compatible and everything has changed. Finding the Enterprise Activation
option in Options was a challenge at first.

daily support. Too complicated.

would say.

BlackBerry Simulators are available on the RIM website for download. No
programming experience is requires for these.
I use the simulators, for training purposes, on a regular basis. I do agree
that the preference would be to have a real BB, but I have installed simulators

That's true but then his would be running in a different configuration than our
users, which might cause the testing to be invalid in some cases. I kind of
think he needs to have a normal device /plan just like our users to provide
proper support. I guess if we were really stingy, that would be
Can you do enterprise activations on them and everything you could do on a real

Just go with a device. I am a app developer and emulator testing shows very
little real world feedback.
