in order to get your branch compiled on linux with cmake, I had to tweak it
a bit.
* install the 'libspnav-dev' package
* added the NDOFManagerX11 files to ghosts CMakeLists.txt
* added CMAKE_EXE_LINKER_FLAGS_RELEASE -lspnav
