Total observation time: 6 hours

Official Counter: Betty Learmouth

Observers: Carl Latta, Jim Crozier, Sylvia Telasco, Wayne Telasco

Visitors:
Today's visitors were from Michigan and Essex County.

Weather:
A cool morning with light winds from the North under cloudy conditions with
some light rain showers through the morning. At noon the winds swtiched
to the Southwest.

Observations:
The peak hours of migration were between 10:00a.m. and 12:00 a.m. EST with
a variety of species. The Northern Goshawk flying past the tower at 11:15
a.m. EST was a highlight of the morning. Banders Jason Sodergren, Kathy
Evans, Dorothy and Gary Balkwill brought two beautiful after second year
Northern Goshawks for release at the tower. This is the first time the
banders have trapped two individuals of this species in one morning.

A mixed flock of passerines including one Dark-eyed Junco, a single
White-crowned Sparrow, fourteen White-throated Sparrows, three Song
Sparrows, several Chipping Sparrows and a single female Eastern Towhee
foraged around the hawk tower throughout the morning. Jim Crozier tallied
1,820 Blue Jays today.
