The easiest way would be to do Windows Key + M to put you on the desktop
then tab twice and you will be on the taskbar - if you tab again you will be

updates you download are mainly to do with Microsoft and other Microsoft
programs, not programs from other vendors like Freedom Scientific
Could someone with a Pearl try it if you have other OCR SOFTWARE like Abbyy
