Hello;
The steps for using the windows XP Burn Utility

1, place CD into drive, and close the drawer.

2, navigate to the folder which contains the files you wish to burn.

3, select all the files,
Then press the applications key,
Up arrow to send-to sub-menu,
Press enter,
Now arrow and select your drive and press enter.
The files will be placed into the CD drive.
Note, you will most likely receive indication that you have files waiting to
be written to disc, or something like this.

4, navigate to desktop,
Enter on my computer,
Enter on your CD Drive,
You should see the files your going to burn.

5, here you can either press the applications key, Or alt+f=file, And enter
on burn files to disc.

Now a wizard will come up,
you'll need to select the type of cd, audio or data, and go to next.
Once you've completed the wizard, the burn process should start.

Hope this helps.

It's my understanding;
If your wanting to burn a data CD, using windows 7you can burn through the
windows explorer, And it's very much like the xp burn utility; However, if
your wanting to burn a audio cd, you'll need to use another program.

Applies to all editions of Windows 7.

Burn a CD or DVD in Windows Explorer

If your computer has a CD or DVD burner, you can copy files to a writable
disc. This process is called burning a disc. Windows burns discs in the Live
File System format or in the Mastered format, depending on which disc format
you choose. For more information about deciding which format you should
choose when burning a disc, see Which CD or DVD format should I use?

The following procedures explain how to use Windows Explorer to burn a data
disc (a type of disc that is useful for storing, archiving, and sharing
files among different computers and devices). If you want to create other
types of discs, such as a DVD-Video disc (to play in a regular DVD player)
or an audio CD (to play in a regular CD player), you'll need to use a
different program or feature of Windows.
