Hi guys,
Just a couple of recommendations about keeping your
automotive, boat or RV battery alive.
When disconnecting or removing a battery never and I mean
never disconnect the positive cable first. You run the risk
of striking an arc and taking out a whole bunch of expensive
electronics
How the ignition system works
Point-type ignition system
An automotive ignition system is divided into two electrical circuits -- the
primary and secondary circuits. The primary circuit carries low voltage.
This
circuit operates only on battery current and is controlled by the breaker

Cliff,
With this neumatic palm nailer, I was able to drive 10D and 16D nails into
a chunk of 4X4, toe nail a 2X4 to the 4X4, drive three inch long nails
while between joists that were 12 inches on center. So it seems pretty
versatile, and I haven't even tried the finishing nail head yet.

Ray,
This is a very good piece of information but I can condense it considerably
by simply saying that if you happen to get a hand on a spark plug when the
engine is running you may well have to make a quick change of trousers.

Anyway, thanks for the article.

Larry,
Felt Terminal Pads? I do not recall ever seeing these and they sure did not
come with any new battery I have purchased lately.
They do sound like a really good idea. Tell me more

Hey Folks,
Did some work on the deck over the last few days. Some progress, but we
may have to undo a lot of what we did depending on some testing I do over
the next few days.
I made a huge rookie mistake and it is about to bight me in the ass. I
assumed that all 2X10 lumber was 1.5X9.5.
Hi Don,
I Can't give you a answer to that question confidently . but if i had to
guess, i would say this is not true. I can tell you with confidence that if
you do give another vehicle a jump you will cause extra strain on your
alternator. If you ever want to test this theory, next time you are
Dan,
My very good friend you *have made my day!*
Once upon a time I ass-u-med that all 4X8 wood paneling was, indeed, 48X96.
(stupid me)
I put up the uprights on 2 foot centers only to discover that - oh dear -
those panels were 47.5 wide.
Didn't make too much difference for the first couple but,
Hi Everyone,
I am buying a new house and want to replace the linolium flooring in one of the
bathrooms. Is it best to take up the old linolium or can I just put to new
linolium on top. The old linolium is in good condition but we want to change
the room color.
Sincerely,
Ward
You should take the old up. If you are lucky you can get it up without tearing
it and might then be able to use it as a template to cut the new piece.
Clean up the subfloor carefully so there are no crumbs or anything else under
the new floor.

hi again.
i was not sure about my answer so i checked.
if the old flooring is in perfect shape and stuck down firmly every where
you can put the new on top. it is best to use a flor leving compound on
the old if it has an embossed pattern or it will bleed thru.some new sheet

Hi Peter,
On more than one occasion now I have had to follow someone who has laid floor
over old. Eventually all flooring needs attention and eventually it is
necessary to rip back to the base. Not only is this nasty but the need
accelerates as more surfaces are laid over the old.

Our central air conditioner is 20 or 25 years old. I can't remember for
certain. about 5 years ago I had to replace the condenser cooling fan motor
but other than that it has been quite trouble free. Friday before last the
house seemed to be getting warm in the afternoon so I went out to
Yes,
You will often see that. It is much cheaper that way. What about when this
wears out? Another layer of plywood and another layer of linoleum? Just how
high are the ceilings?

Cy and Geno, we have one of those trickle chargers or battery
maintainers hooked up to the truck battery which we use for our
generator. it was $24 and change at Walmart a few years ago. the power
for the charger comes from a house cord and then the charger cords or

Dan, before you rip those joists out consider if those high spots are
not all the way across. a plane or even a belt sander with a heavy grit?
Just thinking of renailing or bolting up those joists which will have
your previously nail / bolt holes? Lee

this point, even with all the rain just as hard as cement anyplace on
our property. I have said here a long time ago, the previous owner, my

walls. at
