Well, it is repaired with 8 #6 sds screws. I had to have Karen help to center punch for me since I can no longer swing a hammer. She then asked if she could try to put the screws in. I showed her how and she had a little fun. To clean up the metal filings I again used my plastic bag and magnet

I think you're talking about a Torx, they may call it a star driver. A hex head can be either a machine or sheet metal type screw which will look like a bolt, or an Allen head which has the hex on the inside of the circle. You can also look for what is called a Robertson which is the square
