ok first off sorry if im asking in th ewrong place but the faq didnt
seem to cover this.

i have a dell latitude cpxj laptop. the internal hard drive has both
win2000 and winXP on it (2000 is on primary partition and xp is on
extended). i also have the modular bay hard drive.

the internal harddrive is /dev/hda and the modular is /dev/hdc

currently i am using a boot disc to access hdc and use my linux.

previously i had grub installed in the same configuration, but i
reformatted the primary harddrive which destoryed grub.

/boot is on /dev/hdc1 and still has all of the setting from when it
worked (before the reformat) (custom kernel. menu setup etc).

the problem is that when i run 'grub-install /dev/hda' or 'grub-install
/dev/hda1' (not sure which is the correctw ay but both give the same
message) it gives me this message"

/dev/hdc1 does not have any corresponding BIOS drive.

(/dev/hdc1 is the root partition for my linux install).

sooooooooooo, what does that mean? what do i need to do to fix it? and
what other information do you need to help me fix this!!

PLEASE help, having to use a boot disk really sucs because the floppy is
external and on a cable (attatchd to the parallel port :(

thanks in advance
josh
