It didnt work for me :(, it still complains about not having the list of partitions... even though i tried variety of fstab entries rootfs / rootfs rw 0 0 /dev/hd0s1 / ext2 rw 1 1 . . what am i doing wrong?

The problem was i didnt run grub-install, i just forgot to :( i thought it has been run when it was being configured after apt-getting
