I understand it's off topic, but I wonder why isn't the Hurd project
using MediaWiki.
Because ikiwiki has a VCS backend - means I can write offline on my local
clone and push the changes up whenever I finish them.
Also it is a good

Hi,
Currently I know the Hurd as a nice and working concept, but I'd like it to
spread, and for this it needs a niche.
Is there already a niche where the Hurd is the best of all systems?
For that I'd like to organize a small brainstorm - just write down some usages
where the Hurd could be

I would like to see the Hurd focusing on multi-core systems.
Mach would need to be SMP-fixed first :)

I do have some ideas for the could part, obviously -- or I wouldn't be

I'm not sure how to break them up into specific niches, though...
I think we'll manage that together, at least partly - it's one of the things a

It is a lot slower - at the moment it isn't usable (opening a site can take
minutes for me - if it works).
Normally I can read sites without problems, and while editing is slow that

Another example of features which would be easily possible with the Hurd:

I did a writeup of the current results.
As the Brainstorm Phase is finished, it's time for a Reality Check:
Checking which of the ideas can already be done easily with the Hurd in its
current state, which ones are a bit more complex but already possible, which
ones need a bit of coding
Hi,
I just showed the simple hello world translator to a fellow student who does
FUSE stuff, and the reaction was 'wow, that's cool'.
More exactly what he does is creating a FUSE library which can interpret
transparently represent files as directories (with much pain).
After he did a
I finally created and postprocessed a code_swarm of the work done in the Hurd
project during this years Google Summer of Code.

This time with text (and two typos :( ) and music!
I hope you enjoy it!

Could someone who has a browser which doesn't die trying upload the video to

That's the inofficial service for sharing code_swarms.
