Summary:  
EMC Avamar Server contains security vulnerabilities that may potentially be 
exploited by malicious users to compromise the affected system.

Details:  

•       EMC Avamar Server Authentication Bypass Vulnerability (CVE-2017-4989)

An unauthenticated remote attacker may potentially bypass the authentication 
process to gain access to the system maintenance page. This may be exploited by 
an attacker to view sensitive information, perform software updates, or run 
maintenance workflows.

•       EMC Avamar Server Unauthorized File Upload Vulnerability (CVE-2017-4990)

An unauthorized attacker may leverage the file upload feature of the system 
maintenance page to load a maliciously crafted file to any directory which 
could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the Avamar Server system.

Resolution:  
Resolutions are available for the following EMC Avamar releases:
•       Avamar Server Version 7.4.1 with Hotfix 279294
•       Avamar Server Version 7.3.1 with Hotfix 276676
•       Avamar Server Version 7.2.1 with Hotfix 277897

EMC recommends all customers apply the appropriate hotfix at the earliest 
opportunity.
