On Sat. when I went to my mailbox on North Sunset Drive Ithaca, I noticed that
my neighbors had a spotting scope aimed on a tree trunk. There were 2 Pileated
Woodpeckers scurrying up and down the tree. I was told that they had been there

A Junco banded here on 11/02/2010 was sighted near Laurelville, Ohio on
01/25/2012.
The band was read through binoculars. The bird was at least 3 years old.

On Sunday morning, a fine throng of at least 18 people turned out for the
second walk of this year's Finger Lakes Land Trust Spring Bird Quest (FLLT
SBQ), this time at the Lindsay-Parsons Biodiversity Preserve in West Danby.

At 6:20 as I paddled up the inlet I heard a yellow-throated vireo sing from
just north of the Treman marina in the woods by the water. The song was just
off enough that I lamented having forgotten my binoculars, but thankfully this
individual was kind enough to come close for a great naked-eye
