This morning, we were very surprised to see a female RING-NECKED PHEASANT
feeding under our front bushes. She was eating the millet seeds that I had
scattered there yesterday morning.

Finally, my favorite spring arrival, a Fox Sparrow appeared this morning,
hop-scratching under our feeders. To hear it sing in our yard would add to the
pleasure.
A pair of Purple Finches (m,ƒ) has been around for a few days. We also had a
few Pine Siskins appear briefly on their way northward.
Running near a playground yesterday out in Danby, we accidentally came too
close to an invisible killdeer nest and the parent flushed giving us a
momentary glimpse into a small pile of woodchips with a single green-ish
colored egg with brown spots. The relatively large size of the egg
surprised me
Our SFO group heard the beautiful song of a winter wren this morning at Monkey
Run South (along the muddy SW loop trail). I heard one/it yesterday also, but
it was abbreviated and sufficiently off that I wasn't 100% sure that's what I
