I believe there is an osprey attempting to nest on one of the light fixtures at
the Game Farm Rd. soccer fields, although a large soccer event yesterday may
have put them off.

I keep forgetting to report that a Pine Warbler has been a regular at our
feeder in south Newfield for the past several days--it first showed up on
April 18. This is a first for us as a feeder bird in nearly 30 years in
this location.

This morning as I woke I thought I heard the clear sweet song of a
Rose-Breasted Grosbeak. This was confirmed for me when a stunning male RBG
showed up at my feeder after I put the seed out. In Brooktondale, at edge
of Shindagin Hollow State Forest (slightly out of basin).

The SURF SCOTER pair was still at the south end of Cayuga Lake this
morning, seen distantly but well from East Shore and more distantly and
less well from Stewart Park. A nice (but also distant) alternate RED-NECKED

The GHOW has returned to its roost at Palmer/Jessup Woods on north campus. He
is currently in a small pine behind the row of tamaracks, which is up the hill
from A-lot and to the right.
Although it looks like it is fenced off, the wooden fence is still part of
Palmer Woods.

Karwowski of birders who were learning about hawks this spring, and it became
clear that some in the class would like to know how to be hooked into
Oneidabirds and Cayugabirds bird alert/info services. I signed up so long
