Also a new bird for EIRW was a Fish Crow, which flew overhead while calling!

multiple Worm-eating Warblers began countersinging at 8:50 AM. Probably just
arrived this morning. Also Blue-headed Vireos, Blackburnians, Black-throated
Greens, Hermit Thrushes, Wood Thrush, Great-crested Flycatcher,
Latest report is that the male Oriole has come and had breakfast at the feeder
here in Forest Home Heights.

Ithaca Recreation Way):

5 Rose-breasted Grosbeak (all males in one flowering willow tree)

Other migrants at Sapsucker Woods this morning included Wood Thrush,
American Redstart, Nashville Warbler, Black-throated Blue Warbler,
Blue-winged Warbler, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler,
Solitary and Spotted sandpipers, and Least Flycatcher.

A male Baltimore Oriole has returned to Elm Beach Road, Town of Romulus. At
least one has been here during the past eight summers, occasionally two.

Yesterday evening, at 1815, I saw a female RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD at one of
our feeders. She drank her fill, then flew off. Less than a minute later, a
male RTH flew in, same feeder, same port. I'm wondering if some hummingbirds
migrate as mated pairs? Have not seen them today.

My lovely wife heard an Oriole singing in the woods behind the house this early
morning. The orange feeder is out and has juicy oranges!!

Finally the Catbirds and Baltimore have arrived at EIRW and in Hawthorn
Orchard, but my yard Catbird is not come. But no Common Yellowthroat yet.
Today's other arrivals are 3 or 4 Least Flycatchers, 4 singing Nashvilles in
different locations, one Yellow-rumped Warbler and one Great-crested
The short story: We encountered 27 immature Bald Eagles together at the North
spillway of Tschache Pool on Sunday. It was the largest convocation of eagles I
have ever experienced. And I mean 27 all together... that doesn't count the
birds we were seeing over head or the birds we encountered
While wandering around A.D.White house in search of the Clay-colored Sparrow
this afternoon (I eventually found it on the north side of Stimson Hall), I saw
a MERLIN to the east of the Big Red Barn, perhaps carrying something, and
flying high northbound. A few minutes later a Merlin followed

A resplendent male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK visited my Wood Road in
Freeville feeder today! I put out the grey-striped sunflower seeds in
the nick of time!
Still having PINE SISKINS visit and today also a lovely WHITE-CROWNED
SPARROW.

I just tracked down a singing Blue-winged Warbler near the southern end of
the Podell Boardwalk at Sapsucker Woods, but it was sporting bright yellow
wing-bars. Nothing else on the bird suggested a hybrid, but it clearly
isn't quite a purebred either.
