I saw several very large flocks of Snow Geese on CR 4 between Geneva and Canadaigua today. This afternoon a flock of at least 150 thousand was on the corner of Gates Rd and CR 4. As a biologist who studies passerine migration, I find Snow Geese migration to be an awe inspiring spectacle.

Yesterday was probably the first day since late December that we didn't have cowbirds at our feeders. The numbers ranged from 20-100 over that time, with fewer the last week or so. Yesterday I saw at least a dozen sizable flocks of snow geese overhead, heading north. Most flocks I estimated

Around 230/3 pm we watched tens (hundreds?) of thousands of snow geese flying NW off Cayuga Lake. We were at the Cayuga Lake State Park and down near Wolff’s Grill. It was quite a sight to be seen! Headed up to the muck flats on 31 to see if they would come in for the night, but they didn’t.
