While eating dinner on our deck this evening, we
were briefly joined by a recently fledged robin, with a spotted
chest and half a tail. The fledgling soon flew to an adult robin
that was foraging nearby. I had seen a robin in the yard yesterday
with a bill

A beautiful male Scarlet Tanager is singing in my yard right now! Another
work-from-home win! And although I did not see it myself, my husband reports an
Eastern Screech-Owl being harassed by a robin and cardinal in the yard last
evening.
It's a good time to be working outside!

Presumably the same female White-winged Scoter is, surprisingly, still on
Dryden Lake. The bird appears brown overall with prominent pale patches on the
face, dark bill, and white secondaries.
