Geo’s post on bats spurred me to tell my own bat story.
Saturday birding my patch on Burns Rd. around 11:30 am I saw a brown bat
hunting under the power line cut.
I’ve never seen bats out in the bright sunlight. I watched this bat for about
10 minutes, before moving on, and even got a
Baltimore Oriole, Common Yellowthroat, Great Crested Flycatcher, Red-eyed
Vireo, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, White-crowned Sparrow, Wood Thrush.
Lots and lots of Blue Jays.

The Cornell deer management program is independent of the Town program, and
takes place in select Cornell Natural Areas. The Cornell program ends on April
30th.

Hawthorn is quiet from behind the softball field: yellow warbler, white crowned
and white throated sparrows, savannah sparrow, catbird.
The woods are still posted no entry for deer management bow-hunting. Anyone
know whether that's still active, and/or whether we can request a warbler
There was a lot of movement of birds into the area last night! Here is my
eBird list for our 5 acre property this morning. A nice fallout!
