On Saturday, I trudged around Sugar Hill State Forest just west of Watkins Glen. As my hike was about to end around noon, a Broad-winged Hawk flew to a roadside snag close to where I'd parked, and despite my initial worry that it would flush as soon as I emerged from the trees, it sat on that perch for a good half hour as I was able to set up a tripod to get video footage and watched it while eating my lunch.
