Willie D’Anna reported in the March 2023 Kingbird that the Niagara River
Limpkin found near Lewiston, NY Nov. 2022 was eating grove snails, aka
brown-lipped snails cepaea nemoralis it was finding in a weed-covered slope.
That Limpkin was subsequently captured, taken to a rehab facility for care
What a great adventure! Down south they thrive on large apple snails. I
wonder if they were eating our puny snails?
