About 22 COMMON LOONS offshore here, Lans. Station rd.
W/ about 23 gulls ( ring billed & herring) trying to get some fish.

While closing down my camp at Frontenac Point I did a 180 degree sweep of
the lake with my scope. 66 Common Loons..with many of them making their
“Hoot” calls. Nice day to be on the lake.

Approximately 150 COMMON LOONS up down, offshore, in Cayuga Lake off Lansing
Station Rd in Lansing, many nearer west shore. Accompanied by several gulls
trying to steal food.
Also 10 BLACK DUCKS, 5 MALLARDS 1 HORNED GREBE that was close to my beach for
a good look.
At least 1 FOX SPARROW
Loons, ducks, grebe, etc. all wonderful!
But about that crow: I suspect from your description that it has crow
droppings smeared down its primaries, acquired as it perched directly below
another crow in a communal roost. I get reports during the winter of tagged
crows, always seen with
This morning at ~ 8:30, the neighbors and I were serendaded by the loud,
haunting, joyous calls of two COMMON LOONS on Cayuga Lake by Lansing!
Have not heard such vigorous Loon singing since I was in Algonquin Provincial
Park in Ontario a month ago.

Go thru both back yard gates , down path to beach and dock.
Can also use the new stairs off the upper path to the left, to go directly to
the boathouse 2nd story deck for a higher up look.
Lake is calm, so
9:30 - 10 am, Sat. on Cayuga Lake between #511-535 Lansing Station Rd., Lansing.
Group of 5 COMMON LOONS initially close to shore, diving for crayfish, small
fish, now and then being harassed by GREATER BLACK BACKED GULL making raucous
calls.
