As part of the Watkins Glen CBC today (26 Dec 2020) I just found a Lesser
Black-backed Gull and five Bonaparte’s Gulls in the large gull flock off Clute
Park. LBBG is fairly common in the Ithaca area, but much less so here in WG.
Also two WWSC present.

Hi all,
Not super rare, but an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull is hanging out in the
Hanshaw Rd fields, roughly across from 1452. It was in the right side of
the main flock when I left. Easiest LBBG I've ever found.
Thanks!

At about 1340 today, a Lesser Black-backed Gull was hangng out with some
Herring Gulls, in the field E of the compost mounds, between the first two
fences that run N-S. I had lost sight of it after a “flush of gulls” and also
the arrival of a class (on composting??).
The gull was adult, with
Maybe two—one was an adult, the other a 2nd cycle bird, I am uncertain of…very
long wing projection, though. Among other birds from 1110-1215 today on Compost

A few gulls were attending the compost pile this morning, including
(finally) a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, the first one I have seen there
this season. The only other gull of interest was a Herring-type with
a lot of white in the wingtips, tending toward Thayer's pattern. The
head looked pretty
What plumage/age? There seem to be a lot of this species on Long Island.
We always get a few adults and one or two juveniles this time of year.
I don't have complete confidence in my abilities to age large gulls, but
I think that was a first-cycle bird.
Saw it in the field again this
