Presumably the same female White-winged Scoter is, surprisingly, still on
Dryden Lake. The bird appears brown overall with prominent pale patches on the
face, dark bill, and white secondaries.

Seen half hour ago off shore here at Lansing Station Rd.
Lone male, but hung out with a Black Duck for a little while.
It was swimming for several minutes, then took off flying north.
Not able to re-find it, so it probably kept flying north.
Nice yard bird!

Jessie, Tim and I spent a few hours looking for birds today. A few
highlights included an immature male White-winged Scoter along the ice edge
at the southeast side of Cayuga Lake (visible from East Shore Park) and
Rough-legged Hawk at the Ithaca airport.
Cheers,
Chris
