I had to pick up my daughter at the Ithaca Airport last night, so I went early
(5:30) to see the Short-eared Owls. From Snyder Road near the western corner of
the solar farm, I watched one in flight for several minutes. The snow was
flying too, and when the light dimmed, I walked SE along the

NYS Rte 90. I and others have seen SEOs there many times in the past over the
years.
Has anyone seen them recently near the Evergreen Cemetery W of NYS 34B on the

After these first few owls flew by the buildings on Morgan Road (they didn't

down to the distant birds near Carncross Road, where we could see birds
fighting with each other and perching from afar.

had excellent looks at three Short-eared Owls, I should note that the
distant possibilities that Colleen referred to were indeed distant
Short-eared Owls. They were quite far out and we tried to help many in the
large group
Have a great club trip on Saturday. Knowing you, it will be and I know the SE
Owls know it too and will obey. I wish I could come.

Susie I stopped at Rafferty Rd. (King Ferry area) late this afternoon and
saw 3 SHORT-EARED OWLS. All were easily seen from the road, near the red
barn. The first appeared at 1729, the other two, a minute later. We
watched them for 10 minutes until the light faded. One was on the
Chuck Gibson reported 3 SEOW from the Wilgoose Grassland after Bob talked with
him.
