A flock of 78 small terns, apparently mostly COMMON but with at least one
BLACK and a couple FORSTER'S was offshore from Cayuga Lake S.P. just now,
viewed from Harris Park. They fed on the lake for a few minutes, then rose
up at disappeared high to the west.
I also had one singing GRASSHOPPER
Things are definitely quieter this morning. On a quick trip around the Wilson
Trail starting at 7:45 this morning, I found lots of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS,
one PALM WARBLER, two AMERICAN REDSTARTS, and I heard a COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, a
YELLOW WARBLER, and NORTHERN WATERTHRUSHES (one at the back

FRANKLIN'S GULL at Myers Park in Lansing (Monday, 1 PM).

As far as I know, no one has been able to relocate the adult Franklin's Gull
that Tim and Jeff found since it took off from the spit at Myers and headed
south. It would probably be worth another check of Myers Point, Stewart
Park, and Alan Treman marine this evening, if you get the chance. Please
Two weeks ago I checked our Blue Bird nest boxes and found three sitting
pairs of Blue Birds with 5 eggs in each.today I checked the same boxes and
found one nest box with the eggs and nest gone. Everything was normal in
and around the box except the nest and eggs were gone.has anyone ever
I've updated a couple of tables showing first records of birds in the
Cayuga Lake Basin in 2010. I try to keep them current, but on such
busy migration and observation days as we've had lately it took me
some effort to catch up.
To see the day-by-day order that things were found:
While birding Sunday at Comstock Knoll, on the Cornell campus, I heard a Merlin
calling loudly very close by. I couldn't see it because of the trees, but
maybe it's nesting nearby.
