A Black-billed Cuckoo is singing out in the fog at my place this morning, and I
got an uncommonly nice look at one of the neighborhood Barred Owls, whom I
surprised in the little creek that flows beside Maple Ave. But there's still no
Acadian Flycatcher at the usual location south of Station
The Bobolinks and Woodcocks are singing up a storm in my back yard.
Fireflies have just started.
If you'd like to listen just send me a quick message before tromping through
the back yard.
Feel free to park in the driveway but don't block anyone else.
And, avoid the electric fences.

Just found a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER by the footbridge on the Wilson
Trail. Surprisingly active with other birds too, including CANADA WARBLER
and two BLACKPOLL WARBLERS. The flycatcher moved and is now behind the
feeders/blind.

There is an Alder Flycatcher vocalizing from the near the far staff parking
at the Lab of Ornithology this morning. I did visually confirm it as well,
to make sure I wasn't hearing Kevin McGowan's catbird which had been doing
an Alder imitation. The bird was calling from just beyond the gate in
There is what appears to me to be a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE swimming about in a
shallow pond (new) along Boiceville Rd., Slaterville. Just south of the
putrid-looking houses on the east side of the road.Steve Fast;

Hi all,
Today I was home all day and it seems there were still a number of migrants
moving around. The cloudy, drizzly morning was perfect for birding around the
house on Hunt Hill Rdl, in Dryden. The morning started with BLACKPOLL WARBLER,
CANADA WARBLER, BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, YELLOW
This pond has been good for shorebirds since it was created, I just
looked through my eBird reports and the first record I have is a
Lesser Yellowlegs on May 3 and Dunlin on May 5. I've made this an
eBird hotspot so it'll be easier for everyone to find and enter their
birds.
Cheers,

is till around 8.30 PM.
I got to watch him from less than 10 feet preening, sneezing and snapping
insects from the water. Its companion, the Least Sandpiper made even closer
visit. I could have snapped with my hand
