At the westernmost edge of the L-P Preserve, which coincides with the
Danby/Newfield town line, I've got Scarlet Tanagers and Wood Thrushes singing
this morning.

Just west of the aforementioned town line, as the sun lit the tops of a spruce
thicket, I got a handful of songs from an unseen Cape May Warbler.

An Osprey just flew over my office window coming as close as 15 feet probably
to give a very nice view!
I walked along EIR and hardly any migrants were encountered. But catbirds and
wrens are in full attendance.

Hi all,
First of all, thank you very much to all the folks who stopped by to test
binoculars yesterday afternoon! There's lots more testing to be done, and we
will be holding additional review sessions today from Noon-1PM and again from
4:30-6:30 PM — on the patio at the back of the Cornell
Symbolically , we missed staked out brids such as Screech Owl at two
locations, Sora Rail, Black and White Warbler., the Glossy Ibis, or
Tri-colored Heron, Orchard Oriole at two locations, yet we were at 100
species before driving into Montezuma.

which way the clouds were moving. At that very moment my foy CHIMNEY
SWIFT flew by. With lifted spirits, I continued my labors with renewed

My resident barn swallows returned to their nest on Thursday 5/2. I also saw
bats for the first time in the air that night.

Yesterday there was an E. Kingbird hawking insects from atop one of our nest
boxes. The box's current occupants are Tree Swallows, but there appeared to
be no conflict. We have not seen the Kingbird again.
