Friday afternoon I spent time in the Interlaken area looking for
Short-eared Owls. While I wasn't successful finding them there was a
spectacular late afternoon Snow Goose flight. Canadas and Snows had been moving
all afternoon in small groups, but by dusk the numbers really picked up.

Aurora?), side roads for Horned Larks, Snow Buntings, Longspurs,
Hi all,
I took a spin around the lake and MNWR in the hope of seeing Snow related
birds aka Snowy Owl, Snow Buntings and Snow Geese. I succeeded in seeing the
latter two but not the first species, although they are abundant all over
Syracuse and Rochester area.
I started from Center Road
Along Cayuga View Rd between the cornfields this afternoon, three Snow
Buntings in a small flock of ten birds. I believe the others were Am.
Pipets. Sort of lost the flock when a N. Harrier cruised in. It hunted a
while without any success, then sailed off in the direction of the lake.
