I found my yard Broad-winged Hawks decorating a (new) stick nest with green
hemlock switches this morning. The nest tree is of course right over one of my
tractor trails, so I'll have to avoid going that way for a while.

On Bone Plain Rd., W. Dryden, yesterday, at Pete's Tires.
I meant to type SOLITARY SANDPIPER on the little mud flat, not Spotted
Sandpiper, but all those spots on its back caused a big typo in my mind.

I've been working with the door open this afternoon, hoping that some of my
missing migrants would reveal themselves. I was just preparing a hank of
chestnut bow hair (crin bronze marron clair) to go on a baroque bass bow of
snakewood (Piratinera guianensis), when a Rose-breasted Grosbeak
I was driving down the street in Sayre, Pa. this afternoon, windows down,
enjoying the sun, when the song of a N. PARULA intruded. Must have been pretty
close, but I didn't stop; it'll be here tomorrow.

While south of Auburn, the Ithaca is getting fall outs of warblers and Rose
Breasted Grosbeaks, I have a fallout of White Throated Sparrows. I've had one
for many days, but this morning I have at least 10 under the feeders and
trolling the gardens. Some have the bright white markings and
We also saw an Eurasian Wigeon in Knox Marcellus. There were many Green-winged
Teal feeding on the mud flats, and for a second there my heart got excited with
the possibility of large flock of large sandpipers, but, sad to say, no such
luck.

Checked out the hawthorn orchards this morning (6-7am), which lacked
anything too exciting (yellow warbler, ruby-crowned kinglets and many
red-winged blackbirds), until at one point a killdeer-like call was
followed by a falcon-like shape swooping north towards the
cemetary/pharmacy area. I
