[cayugabirds-l] Inlet nighthawk

2020-09-01 Thread Suan Yong
A common nighthawk just flew north along the inlet from the octupus. Seen from
our concert band's distanced outdoor rehearsal. An adult bald eagle also made
an appearance. Really augmenting my "concert band birding list".

2020-09-01 Thread Donna Lee Scott
While taking cat to vet through back roads of Lansing, on Holden Road between
Brooks Hill Road and Storm road, I saw 4 kestrels on wires near the kestrel
nest box on a pole that nyseg put up!

Then I went east on Storm road & just past the woods on the left was a fifth
kestrel on the utility wire!

[cayugabirds-l] “Virtual Rail Walk”

2020-09-01 Thread Dave Nutter
As Ferris Akel and I were starting out onto the east dike of Knox-Marsellus
Marsh from Towpath Road to start our “Virtual Shorebird Walk” on 22 August, we
were distracted for a long time by rails, which Ferris edited down to a mere
36:07. Google:

Common Gallinules, Virginia Rails, And A Sora, 8/22/2020 (HD)

[cayugabirds-l] Myers Sanderlings

2020-09-01 Thread Jay McGowan
Two juvenile Sanderlings are on the spit at Myers this morning. They flew
south at one point but ended up back at the end of the spit.

Not as exciting as the two RED KNOTS Tim Lenz just found on the beach at
Seneca Lake SP, but still nice to see.
