FOY today in our yard are Baltimore Oriole and House Wren. In past
years the Orioles have been regulars but HWrens not so.

Indigo Bunting on the nyger seed.

on a fence post at the shoulder of the road. When
we left, the bird was still there. Still waiting to be photographed.
Strange birds.
BTW, the dead critter was a raccoon.

We put up the hummingbird feeder about 5 pm; hummer appeared not long

About 4 Barn Swallows arrived today at their traditional summer home in
our barns. We had begun to worry that we would not see them this year.
In past years we had taken down the previous year's nests, which did not
seem to make any difference to the birds. This year the old nests are
still
About 4:30 pm today we saw 2 ospreys on Rice Rd, Trumansburg -- an
active osprey on platform pole & a male on next pole. We're watching.

Finally eleven found the west side of Cayuga L. and flew to our platform
feeder to feast on black oil sf seeds for about 15 min. about a half
hour ago.

We had NO redpolls all winter.until today. About 4pm two redpolls
appeared on our stone patio and scavenged sunflower seed under a feeder.
They did not stay long. On the other hand, two Bluebirds showed up
about the same time and are checking out bird houses. And yesterday a
pair of
Brown Thrasher poking around under a feeder in a forsythia bush this
a.m. FOY yard bird here.
